Tom Root has been a full-time artist for almost 30 years. He is primarily a figure and portrait painter, but also paints landscape, still life and imaginary scenes. Early in his career he also did illustration work, mainly for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the St. Petersburg Times. He studied drawing and painting at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Connecticut, under Aaron Shikler NA and Deane G. Keller, and at Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. In addition to being a painter, Tom is also a songwriter, musician, and writer of children's stories. Website
